53!

Hello! I suppose I will do a rundown this time. I like lists...so here goes:

1. We have had electricity issues and water issues since Sunday morning. Sometimes they are campus-wide, sometimes parts of campus but the issue is no electricity means the water only lasts for so long because the pumps require it. Fun times. Apparently other dorms on campus are worse off than ours and some students are protesting lectures because they haven't had running water for weeks...
2. Ghana beat Brazil to win the U-20 World Cup on Friday. There was mayhem all over campus...kinda crazy. People were running through the halls, honking horns all willy-nilly, rolling in grass. I wasn't that moved by it but it was a crazy game including sudden death and whatnot.
3. Went to Shangri-La on Sunday to hit up the pool and poolside waiter service! Good times. As always.
4. Soooo Sarah Nash went away for Friday night and returned to me with around 220 bites (mosquito, spider, maybe others...and yes, Jennica and I counted). Neck, face, hands, back, stomach, feet, arms, legs...it was absurd. But she's all better now! I hydrocortisoned her up.
5. Ecobank is my bank here. They are the keepers of my stipend. However, they are crazy slow, the ATMs rarely work, and they charge to use their own ATMs...excuse? Good thing I can use Barclay's (BoA equivalent) with my Ecobank ATM card free of charge. =)
6. I had a Home Science lab on Tuesday. We tested cake...and by tested I mean we made cake. Not out of a box though. We used flour, baking powder, and the whole shabang. It was crazy. And the power went out so we had to cream sugar and margarine by hand. Cake was good though! No frosting, but good!
7. It's still getting hotter. We are 3 degrees from the equator. Hot. Just hot.

I think that's all for now! I would like all of you to will my electricity and water to stay on...when you're free. Thanks in advance! See you soon!!

  1. Chanel--How are we possibly going to keep you down on the farm with the Lake Avenue Cake parties now that you know how to do it from scratch? But you totally need frosting with sprinkles, and that's where the Liangs come in! Can't wait to see you. Did K tell you I work at REACH now??

  2. No need to worry! I have not strayed from the farm. Funfetti is still definitely the way to go. I am very excited to get back to the cake I know and love! No, she didn't tell me! Do you know when she will be home for Winter Break?
