Hello, friends. Ghana is starting to get really......REALLY hot. It used to be around noon to about 3 but now it was moved from about 10 am to 4 pm. It's kind of out of control but it makes going to sit at hotel pools much more appealing.
We went back to the Dagbe Center this past weekend. It's an interesting place but the dancing is quite tortuous. And I cannot drum for the life of me and I was assigned to the big drum against my will. And I may have gotten really dehydrated, which wasn't fun but Mommy Jennica took care of me so all was well. We're going back next weekend for the final time and we have to perform for the village....basically so they can laugh at the silly foreigners. Such is Ghanaian life.
Sarah Nash, who is the newest love of my life, went home for a week because her friends are getting married. It was quite sad to see her go and being at the airport made me realize just how close leaving is and how hard it may be. Plus, her flight was delayed 23 hours because they couldn't get the cargo door to close and when they finally did, it was 6 inches ajar and wouldn't re-open. Sigh. So, they decided they had to fly in an engineer from London (British Airways) to fix it because there was no other BA plane in Ghana and no one in Ghana to fix it. Makes sense, right? No. But she made it out of the country the next day. No worries!
Meh...classes are still absurd. Workin with Older People is the biggest pain in my behind. The lecturer is quite misinformed and our group papers/presentations were an travesty because she never handed out an assignment and expected us to work miracles. Not gonna happen. And my group was awful because I got grouped with some of the most condescending people ever who attributed the internet's inability to load pages to my not being Ghanaian...oh ok. And my group leader thinks she's brilliant and wrote one of the worst papers I have ever seen. That's done, thank goodness.
This weekend should be good though! It's Sarah Hacking's 21 birthday tomorrow and we are having a crazy Saturday by the pool and then at the sports bar! And tomorrow night we are going to Frankie's to get bacon cheeseburgers!!!!!!!!! Clearly food gets me through.
Anywho, that's all for now. This is long. Stay beautiful, folks!
