So, I made it back to the internet for my final post from Ghana. I am officially done with my academic commitment to the University of Ghana at Legon. Finals are over and I'm just waiting for my plane to take off on Sunday night. Twiddle twiddle. It was a rough semester but I will be sad to leave since this has been my life for quite a while. In true self fashion, I have some parting lists.
Thinks I will miss:
1. Trotro adventures despite there being stiflingly hot.
2. Appreciating all things American.
3. Calling home because it was just so refreshing.
4. Planning around Ghanaian heat.
5. My Community Entry Techniques professor...he's pure comedy.
6. Going out on school nights because the academics let me!
7. Being new.
8. ISH porters. Especially Eric.
9. Lizards everywhere doing push-ups.
10. Cheap food that isn't from a fast food place.
11. Ghanaian TV, as horrible as it was.
12. Sports comraderie.
13. Pretty men. Everywhere. At all times.
14. Random conversations with strangers that generally start out as bargaining.
15. TIG crew adventures.
What I'm looking forward to:
1. My mommy being much closer.
2. FOOD...with my FAVORITE people, of course.
3. Different weather. I may even like snow now.
4. Driving instead of taking trotros and taxis.
5. CharlieCards!
6. Grocery stores! With real prices!
7. The Stamford Mall...sad I know.
8. My bed!
9. TUFTS!!!! And our second Christmas after break when I shower you all with gifts!
10. Internet and TV. And I never crave TV at Tufts.
Thank You's:
1. My mom and friends for letting me vent to them every week. You kept me sane.
2. My family for visiting me.
3. Everyone who told me they missed me and made me know I was appreciated.
4. Everyone who celebrated with me.
5. Jennica, Sarah Nash, Kelly, and Shacking for all the good times and laughs.
6. Pierre, Shameika, Amand, and Miles for being such great non-Tufts people.
7. Alison for sending me my only mail in Ghana.
8. Ghana for patience, heat, my tan, and new experiences and adventures that I will always remember.
All I need for Christmas is to see your shining faces...and CDs of music I missed! I feel so lost and uninformed! Oh, and if someone could swing DVDs of the seasons of Will & Grace, Weeds, and/or The Golden Girls, I would actually kiss your face.
Now, I will go party with some cute kids, have my final Tufts-in-Ghana dinner, sit by the pool, buy some plane snacks, apparently not be able to exchange my money anywhere (one last Ghanaian quirk), and stay out crazy late on saturday night before I head back to my one and only home.
I will send out a mass text when I land, as long as Verizon let's me so don't freak out. Logan International. 10:50 am. Thanks for reading!
